30 Jun God is Waiting

A few months ago, Vickie and I had the opportunity to enjoy a few days with our children and grandchildren up in central Florida. One afternoon, I got to participate in one of my all time favorite activities, playing my grandson Joey (6-years-old) some wicked games of  Tic-Tac-Toe. I say wicked because Joey is always determined to be the winner. This makes playing the games super fun because, if you are a grandparent, you can identify with the joy of constantly looking for new, creative ways to allow your grandchildren to win the game. For me, there's absolutely nothing more exciting than to see Joey do his victory dance as I mourn another loss.   This week, I've been reminded over and over again of an element found in the game of Tic-Tac-Toe. The game can't progress until you make your move. Without some activity on your part, the game will be stalled forever. If you've read my last Billy Burns Ministries newsletter , then you are "in the know" and are aware that for us, God had made His move by giving us a clear, unmistakable directive to leave behind 25 years of being the children's pastor at an incredible church so that we can launch out as full time evangelists and conduct our Ignite the Supernatural Conferences and preach in churches nationally and internationally. We've recognized His move and chosen to make our move. We've recognized that His unfulfilled directive will die within us in some way off distant future unless we take the initiative and make a gigantic step of faith to step into this new season of ministry.   Let me wrap up this blog by quoting a statement that Joey makes from time to time in our Tic-Tac-Toe games, "Papa, it's your turn. You're not paying attention." I'm writing on behalf of God today. He wants to notify you that it's your turn. He has clearly, undeniably made His move. You just haven't been paying attention. Now, go ahead and make your bold move. (And, here's a head's up. His move has set you up to win!)   One more note ...

23 Jun A Gigantic, Humongous Announcement!

I've been leading into this blog post for several weeks. It's time to put the blog posts together to make this huge announcement. After 25 years of being the Children's Pastors at one of the greatest churches in the nation, Vickie and I are obeying the leading of the Holy Spirit and have resigned so that we obey God's directive. Beginning in July, we will travel full time as evangelists and ignite the fire of the Holy Spirit in our nation and around the globe. Vickie and I will devote our full attention to conducting the Ignite the Supernatural Conferences, preaching in churches, and writing and producing curriculums and books. Is this a sudden decision? No. We've known for some time that God was launching us into this assignment. But, we had to wait for God's timing. We've all seen people who clearly heard from God and yet missed His timing. Timing is everything. We know that we know that we know that now is the time. We've clearly heard from God, "The nation is waiting for you. The nations (plural) are waiting." You and I know that the need for a move of God's Spirit is so great. And yet, we aren't leaving our position as a Children's Pastor because of a need. We are leaving because of a directive. We've heard from God, we know His timing, and we will follow His leadership step by step. It's amazing how God has confirmed the gigantic move over and over again. After telling the leadership of our church, God performed a miracle in helping Vickie and I to quickly find a great couple to become Trinity's new Children's Pastors. (That's an incredible story in itself!) Our Florida home had a buyer in 3 days. We located the perfect home in North Richland Hills, Texas (yes, we are moving back to TEXAS!) in just 2 days and will be moving in a few short weeks. People and churches are already coming alongside of us to partner with us financially to enable us to travel. It's piece after piece of the puzzle joining together to showcase God's miracle working power. I would ask four things of you...

16 Jun Are You a “This” Person?

I love the statement made by Peter on the Day of Pentecost. He said, "This is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel." (Acts 2:16) According to the dictionary, the word "this" is a determining word used to specify and identify. In using the word "this", Peter was  eliminating any and all confusion and uncertainty. THIS is that. You've heard of "yes" people. I'm launching a new movement of "this" people, children's/youth ministry leaders who will join Peter and make use of the powerful "this." These "this" people are unwavering determiners. There are no question marks plastered across their minds and hearts. Are you a "this" person? If so, there are some determining words that need to come from your heart and mouth that specify and identify. So, open your mouth and erase all uncertainty by declaring these THIS statements: 1. THIS is the generation that will see the fulfillment of Joel's prophecy found in Joel 2:28. 2. THIS outpouring of God's Spirit will begin in my ministry. I've reserved the final determining words for those who aren't faint at heart. I'm talking about people who will swing over hell on a cornstalk and spit in the devil's eye. Ready? 3. THIS outpouring will begin THIS week. Join us. You don't have to fear that you are being presumptuous. Like Peter, you are merely acknowledging Joel's prophecy and identifying and defining the who, where, and when of this outpouring. Come on. Speak up. Boldly speak up. Boldly and confidently speak up. Heaven is listening and responding. Hell is trembling at these words....

09 Jun Comfortable?

We've all read and perhaps often quoted the statement, "If you always do what you've always done, you'll have what you've always had." It's true. You and I know people who want to lose some major weight and yet they keep eating the same types and quantities of food and do the same amount of exercising (none) and yet believe that they will lose one, two, or three clothes sizes in the near future. People who lose weight get out of their comfort zone and begin to do things that are uncomfortable so that they can obtain their goal. If you want to see different results, you've got to do things differently.   Are you comfortable in your ministry? Or, are you tired of seeing what you've been seeing? How dissatisfied are you? Enough to begin to take bold steps of faith and move out of your comfort zone?    For those of you who have been saying, "Well, I'm just waiting on God", I'm here to say that He has been waiting on you. You know His heart. You know His desire. So, do something. Take action. Be bold. Be courageous. Cast aside the "what ifs" and dare to get out of the boat of comfort and security and place your feet on the waters knowing that you've heard the Master's voice.   One more thought ...

02 Jun The Ride of Your Life

Rather than share a lengthy thought, I felt prompted to re-announce something announced back in the Old Testament days and then restated by the Holy Spirit through the apostle Paul.   "That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” But we know these things because God has revealed them to us by his Spirit, and his Spirit searches out everything and shows us even God's deep secrets. No one can know what anyone else is really thinking except that person alone, and no one can know God's thoughts except God's own Spirit. And God has actually given us his Spirit (not the world's spirit) so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us." 1 Corinthians 2:9-12 (New Living Trans.)   These are days of great revelation to those receptive to the voice and promptings of the Holy Ghost. I am convinced that these are eye-opening, mind-blowing, destiny-launching, boundary-defying days. Things that you never saw coming will unfold as the Holy Ghost clearly reveals God's deep secrets.   Are you in tune with the Holy Ghost? He is in the talking, revealing business. It is that secret-revealing voice that causes us to see the "exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think" (Ephesians 3:20) manifest before our very eyes. It is His voice that challenges us to get out of the comfort zone and dare to do the impossible.   Thank God for the Holy Ghost. Today is His day. I've heard his voice. I've buckled my seat belt in preparation for the ride of my life. His undeniable voice has told me that the nation is waiting ...
