28 Mar Who Are You?

Just out of curiosity, when was the last time that you as a leader shared with those who work alongside of you the core values of your ministry? And, when was the last time that you taught your core values to the children/students in your ministry?  Too often, we assume that those who have joined up to work with us and the children/students in our ministry know who we are and what we believe. But, in all reality, when pressed to list the core values that define who you and your ministry are, most children/students in your ministry and members of your team would fail miserably. Outside of stating that you love Jesus, it would be a bunch of "uh's" and "duh's". Let me briefly outline our DNA list that was repeatedly taught in a teaching series to our children and shared with those working in our ministry while we were children's pastors in South Florida. We are a ministry passionately in love with Jesus. We are a ministry that whole-heartedly worships Jesus. We are a ministry that LOVES the Word. We are a ministry of passionate, hilarious givers. We are a ministry that knows and makes room for the Holy Spirit. We are a ministry that is unashamedly Pentecostal.  We are a ministry that allows for the demonstration of the Holy Spirit. What is your DNA? For brevity's sake, in this blog posting, I've just provided a list of our seven values. 21 Mar One of the Greatest Roadblocks to a Move of God

Here is a statement that probably isn't new to too many people. Today's move of the Holy Spirit will be unlike anything that we have ever seen before. It's new. It's fresh. It's uncharted. It's unpredictable. It's beyond anything that we can imagine or even fathom. It's so revolutionary that it will cause our peanut-size brains to go tilt, tilt, tilt. In anticipation of this move of God, let me offer some precautionary words written by one of my heroes, P.C. Nelson, taken from his book The Baptism in the Holy Spirit written back in 1942. "Throw away your preconceived ideas, and become as a little child. The Lord has more trouble with people's heads than He does with their hearts. They are too wise for Him, and He can teach them nothing till they come back to childhood again."  P.C. Nelson One of the greatest roadblocks to this move of God won't be the enemy Satan. It will be that massive conglomeration of cells between our ears, our brain. Our fear of the unknown or our desire for our previous experiences to dictate and control the future will shut down this move of God faster than we can spell the word "Mississippi" in Pig Latin. It's a new day with new opportunities. For us to participate in these new opportunities, there is a challenge coming from the Holy Spirit to cast aside our preconceived ideas and, like a little child, trust our Father. With child-like faith, grab ahold of His hand and allow our Father to lead us into an outpouring of His Spirit unlike anything that we've ever seen in this dispensation of the Holy Spirit....

14 Mar Want to See Book of Acts Results?

A person can't read through the Book of Acts without having their faith stirred and passion ignited for a great move of God's Spirit. There's just something about reading through this book that causes a desire for us to see great things happen. We all want to see today what we read about in the Book of Acts, right? But, even while there is the stirring, there are many reading this blog that can attest to the fact that this stirring can bring great frustration because we don't see the Book of Acts results. Do you want to have the results seen in the Book of Acts? It's quite simple if we will heed the wisdom given by one of my heroes. "The Acts of the Apostles was written because the apostles acted." Smith Wigglesworth Simple? Too simple? Great things happened because they acted. Maybe the simplicity has caused us to miss out on the acts of the Holy Spirit because we are too fearful to boldly take action. In other words, until we take steps of faith and do something, we will never see anything. It's just that simple. Dare to believe God. Do something. I guarantee that God is ready to add another few paragraphs to tell your story in the ongoing Acts of the Apostles....

07 Mar Where There’s a Fire …

I'll admit that I'm a conference junkie. I love going to conferences and sitting in workshop after workshop. If you've read the advertisements from many of today's conferences, you will find that the subject matter often focuses on techniques, ambiance, and communication. It's great and needed. But, as great as these topics might be, nothing can or will replace what can happen when a church is set on fire with the Holy Spirit. While creating ambiance and analyzing technique may cause a "wow" factor, the fire from heaven will create a "now" factor that causes the explosive church growth experienced throughout the Book of Acts. Here is how one of my heroes explained it ...
