28 Nov Making Room for a Supernatural Children’s/Youth Ministry

Moves of God’s Spirit don’t just happen. They come when people make room for the supernatural. Below are simple steps that will help usher in a move of God’s Spirit: Know the Holy Spirit, not just know about Him. He will never be real through you until He is real to you. The children/youth will never go where you have never been. God has called you to be a tour guide, not a travel agent. You have to learn the joy of traveling in the realm of the Spirit before you can lead your children/youth into this realm. Boldly and consistently declare who you are and where you are going. We aren’t the I’ve Got a Secret game show. Make it known that you are unashamedly, undeniably a Holy Spirit church and that you expect Him to demonstrate that He is present. Make room in the services for God’s Spirit. Too often, we have so much planned that we “have” to do leaving no room for His promptings and leadership. Don’t just talk about what God has done in the past; our kids need to see a TODAY Holy Spirit. Seeing is believing. Demonstrate the supernatural. Anticipate and allow the gifts of the Spirit to operate. Expect to see the Holy Spirit show that He is in the service. Lastly, remember that what you see right now isn’t the final report. Initial changes might seem small and insignificant. Keep on keeping on. Get ready cause there’s a mighty move on its way! ...

14 Nov Dr. Burns is in the House!

One of the few benefits of our medical insurance is that it provides us a "free" annual examination. I put the word free in quotation marks as a way of being sarcastic. In order to get the "free" thorough, head-to-toe examination, we have to pay our twelve monthly payments. And so, it is actually far from being free. If you will look at your calendars, you will find that today is the scheduled day for your annual ministry examination. And, here's the good part. It is absolutely FREE! How? Because I am asking for you as the Pastor or a children/student ministry leader or Sunday school teacher to perform the annual examination and temporarily become an unbiased physician or evaluator. Today, you are to perform a long overdue, thorough, head-to-toe examination of your ministry. For just a few minutes, I want you to do what my physician does each year and look below the surface, poke around and ask embarrassing, honest questions. Analyze where the ministry stands today as opposed to its condition twelve months ago. Finished? Satisfied with the results of your examination? If not, without me even being there with you right now, I, Dr. Burns, can reach across the miles and read the examination's summarization and deduce the source of the problems. (You do know that I am being facetious about me being a doctor, right?) In all likelihood, your situation is caused by a serious lack of the Holy Ghost. The medical journals (the book of Acts) show that when He is constantly flowing throughout the body (of Christ), your maladies and problems aren't an issue. Without a Holy Ghost difficency, the Church is healthy and alive. Lives are impacted. There is supernatural growth. Signs and wonders abound. Unlike most physician's penmanship, this prescription is easy to read. Contact Billy and Vickie Burns so that those in your ministry can get a healthy, undiluted, maximum-strength dose of the Holy Ghost. In July 2014, Vickie and I left a tremendous church in South Florida so that we can travel full time to "dispense the prescription" around the nation and world. We are doing this by preaching Holy Ghost rallies and revivals in churches and also training and equipping children/student ministry leaders to work together the Holy Spirit through our Ignite and Unite Conferences. 07 Nov You Can Get It Here!

I have just finished rereading a book that I haven’t touched in probably 15 years, Lester Sumrall’s Pioneers of Faith. In his book, Sumrall tells of the stories of many of the Pentecostal Hall of Famers, people that he personally knew and often ministered alongside, individuals like Smith Wigglesworth, P.C. Nelson, F.F. Bosworth, Donald Gee, Lillian Yeoman, just to name a few. In the first chapter, Sumrall tells of the life of a Methodist minister from Norway, Thomas Ball Barratt. In 1906, Barratt came to America to raise funds for the Methodist church, learned about the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Azusa Street in Los Angeles, contacted Azusa Street to learn about the baptism in the Holy Spirit, was soon filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, and then returned back to Norway. (You can tell that this is a man’s retelling of Barratt’s life. It’s only a few sentences.) Upon returning to the leadership of the Methodist Church to give a report of his fundraising, Barratt told the clergy, “Brethren, I got it.” They thought that he had gotten a lot of money and so they asked, “How much did you get?” Barratt replied, “All that I could hold.” When they asked him how much it was, Barratt opened up his Bible to the second chapter of Acts and said, “I got it. I speak in tongues.” Here’s the part of the story that I love. The Bishop stood up and told Barratt, “Well, you didn’t get it here,” and Barratt was removed from the list of clergy. Here’s the reason that I shared this story. As I read this report, I heard the Holy Spirit tell me that I need to make it known when we minister in our services that “you can get it here.” We need to make it known that this is the place to receive from God. Whatever is needed is available upon request. Need to be born again? Get it here. Need the baptism in the Holy Spirit? Get it here. Need to receive healing? Get it here. I'm sharing what the Holy Spirit told me because I sincerely believe that this is a message to you as well. We don't need to hold back. Because of the infilling and empowering of the Holy Spirit, we need to boldly declare that we have come to minister and deposit the resources of heaven, needs can and will be supplied, and that people won't leave the way that they came. Why? Because "you can get it here"....
