How Long Has It Been?

If you were anywhere in the great state of Texas during the 1970's and 1980's, you will readily recognize this tag line from the Wolf Brand Chili advertising campaigns ... "Neighbor, how long has it been since you had a big, thick, steaming bowl of Wolf Brand Chili? Well, that's too long!" To us Texans, that slogan ranks up there with M&M's ("It melts in your mouth and not in your hands."), Tony the Tiger's Kellogg's Frosted Flakes ("They're Grrrreat!"), Folgers Coffee ("The best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup!"), and KFC's ("It's Finger Lickin' Good."). To "borrow" from the...

Ready to Raze Hell!

It's all too easy to get into a rut in anything that you do, be it in work, relationships, hobbies, and ministry. You'll have to admit that you've either been in a rut in the past or may be in one right now. I know because I've been there and got and worn the t-shirt. When you are in this rut mentality and/or spiritually, you just go through the motions with little effort and little concern about the ramifications of your actions or lack of actions. Consequently, nothing of value is accomplished. Here's a quick reminder to get you back on course for ministry. I will declare with no...

Is Being Filled with the Holy Spirit REALLY a Priority?

Whether we will admit this to be true or not, the facts are the facts. In many of our Pentecostal/charismatic churches (and the various ministries within the churches), few of the people are Spirit-baptized. I would venture to say that extremely few boys and girls in our Sunday school classes and children's churches have been given the opportunity to be filled with the Spirit. The children in our children's churches and youth in our student ministries that are Spirit-baptized generally are filled with the Spirit at a Kid's/Youth Camp and then return back home never to hear of the Holy Spirit...

Happy One-Year Anniversary to Us!

It was one year ago today that Vickie and I took the biggest step of faith in our marriage and ministry. On July 13th, 2014, I preached my final message at Trinity Church International, we hugged literally hundreds of people, shed a ton of tears as we said emotion-packed goodbyes, and then walked out of Trinity's doors to step out into this new, God-ordained season of ministry. It was a day that we will never forget and will always treasure. Here is the twelve month update. Has the transition been easy? Do you want spiritualees or honesty? (To hear some preachers talk, you'd think that they...

It’s Time to Ignite a Revolution!

A couple of weeks ago, I had the incredible privilege of officiating the wedding ceremony of our youngest son Aaron and his beautiful bride Kaity. It was a service that I will never forget. Vickie and I are so blessed. All three of our sons have married beautiful, godly ladies. It's every parent's dream come true!!! As I was preparing for the wedding, I recognized how weddings have changed over the years. One of the most noticeable changes is the absence of the phrase, "if there is anyone here who objects to this marriage, let them speak now or forever hold their peace." Do you remember...
