Heaven’s Downloads & Updates

For those with an iPhone, you are readily aware that app updates are a way of life. I'm sure that you'll agree that it's a rare day that the iPhone's App Store doesn't show that one or more of the apps have updates ready to download. These constant updates are available for three possible reasons ... first, to remedy critical issues such as an app locking up or having compatibility problems, second, to tweak its functionality so that it can run smoother, and third, to give the app a fresh, new look. The app creators recognize the value of these continual downloads to bring the programs...

This Might Be TOO Radical For You!

Here's a radical idea for those who minister to children ... imagine what would it be like if we were to do less and make room for God to do more. Here is why I say that this is a radical idea. Back when I started in children's ministry,  a teaching evolved that instructed us to squeeze three hours of teaching content into a ninety minute  service.  The ideology of the day was to pack as much teaching, object lessons, skits, costumed characters, games, transparency stories, etc. into your allotted time. Consequently, we would have parents waiting at the back door to pick up their child and...

He’s an ALL God!

In case you haven't discovered in the last 8+ years of my writing this blog, I love the Holy Spirit. He constantly amazes me. Here's an example of the Holy Spirit at work ... While reading the Word the other day, the Holy Spirit interrupted my reading to share a simple and yet powerful truth. Mind you, this had nothing to do with what I was reading. Here is what He told me ... God is an ALL God. Simple...

Post-it Realities!

Thank God for Post-it Notes. They are a Texas-size help in enabling me to remember key thoughts during telephone conversations, what groceries to buy at the grocery store (Vickie will say an amen because without the notes I usually come home with just Cheetos, Blue Bell ice cream, Dr Pepper, and Double Stuff Oreo cookies), and the street address that I'm looking for while I'm driving. Now don't look down your nose at me. You'll have to admit that Post-it Notes are a big help to you too! Let me make a suggestion for another usage of the Post-it Note that will totally revolutionize your...

What’s Your Story?

We've come a long way from the days when Vickie and I first started in children's ministry back in the late 1970's. Over the last almost 40 years, we've replaced the left-over Sunday school Bible story visual aids with incredible television-quality video stories, our old upright piano has been replaced with either full praise and worship bands or unbelievable DVDs, lackluster rooms have disappeared and are now replaced with rooms showcasing a Walt Disney-quality ambiance, and, for the most part, highly trained volunteers now fill the rolls once occupied by the whosoever-will-come-fill-a-spot...
