A One-Size-Fits-All Holy Ghost
Many years ago, I came across a children's ministry leader who evidently loved the word "little". In describing the different aspects or events of their ministry, they would always say that coming up next in their service would be a "little" puppet show or the kids are about to do a "little" skit or ... well, you get the idea. Everything was little. After an overabundance of "littles", I did something that I rarely do, I gave some unsolicited advice. I pointed out that the word "little" should never be used in or about their ministry because it minimized both the activity and the intended...
Tell Me a Story
As Vickie and I were stepping down from being Trinity Church International's children's pastors this past July, we had so many conversations with the children who had been in our ministry over the 25 years. It was amazing to see that in many cases we were now pastoring children of the children who were in our ministry 25 years ago. We were now ministering to our second generation. So, you can imagine that there were a lot of stories to be told. It brought me great joy to hear young adults tell about how they would groan year after year as I drove the church vehicle by an orange...
Bottlenecking the Holy Spirit
Several years ago, we scheduled Tommy Tenney to be the keynote speaker at our national Ignite the Supernatural Conference. To help with my conference budget, I asked around to find a place for Tommy to speak on the weekend so that the church and the conference could split the cost of his travel expenses. They reminded me that the church leadership planned their services down to the precise minute with every segment of the service carried out...
Need Help in Your Local Church?
I realize that if we keep on doing what we've always done that we will have what we've always had. And, evidently, what we have been doing isn't producing a move of God in many churches. Some moving and shifting must take place in order to see an outpouring of God's Spirit. In July of this year, Vickie and I stepped out into a new season of ministry to help usher in this move of God. We've heard from God telling us, "The nation is waiting for you. The nations (plural) are waiting." Now is the time to ignite a move of God! I recognize that many people in your ministry can't...
Checking Up
Just a quick question ... did you receive my last Billy Burns Ministries newsletter? Perhaps a more important question would be, did you actually read the last newsletter? It was sent out on Tuesday of last week. If you didn't receive it or read it, please take a moment and click on this link. It will tell you what is going on in this new season of our ministry, how that we can help you in your church, and it has the most incredible picture of the most beautiful granddaughter in the world (no brag, just fact).
