Pentecost 101

Pentecost 101

While growing up and attending the Gulf Coast Christian Center, I often heard my pastor B.B. Hankins say that if a person would listen to the Holy Spirit, He would make them look brilliant. While I don't claim to be brilliant, last Friday the Holy Spirit gave me this tremendous alliteration that I know I couldn't/wouldn't have created on my own. This post that I almost titled "The Five W's of Pentecost" or "The Basics of Pentecost" so simply and powerfully capsulizes Pentecost. It comes from Acts 1:8. "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be...

Plugging Into the God Kind of Power

Plugging Into the God Kind of Power

Three weeks ago, Vickie and I had the opportunity to minister at one of my all-time favorite churches, Riverside Church which is located down in Sebastian, Florida. Since the drive was only about two hours, we woke up on that Sunday at 4:30 AM to get showered, dressed and on the road by 5:45 AM so that we could be on time for the 8:15 AM service. Saturday evening, I went to bed knowing what God had wanted me to preach. In my time of preparation, I knew that I knew that the Holy Spirit would definitely show up and lives would be changed. I couldn't wait to preach the two services! Here's a...

Fueling Your Passion

Fueling Your Passion

In ministering in our Holy Spirit Rallies, service after service, Vickie and I are seeing such a hunger among God's people for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The barriers of tradition and formulas are being pushed to the side and eliminated. There is a cry of "Yes, Lord. Here, Lord. Me, Lord. Now, Lord." Let me share some quotes that will fuel your desperation and longing for a fresh, right-now, personal outpouring of God's Spirit. ~ "The less Holy Spirit operation we have, the more cake and coffee we need to keep the church going." Reinhard Bonnke Holy Spirit: Are We Flammable Or...

It Can Do All of That

It Can Do All of That

While reading Acts 18, I discovered a phrase that excited me. In verse 28, Luke wrote "shewing by the scriptures". When I read that phrase, I was ready to do the happy dance. It was a reminder to me that I am on the right track. Let me explain. If you have attended one of our Holy Spirit Rallies, you have seen me quote some ten to fifteen scriptures as I am preaching. These are not scriptures that I have memorized just to impress people as I preach. Nor is quoting these scriptures my attempt to look super spiritual. On the contrary, each and every verse has been memorized for my own personal...

Multiplicity of Multitudeness

Multiplicity of Multitudeness

Okay, I will fess up. Don't ask me what the blog title means. Like you, I'm clueless. Is it googleable? (Is "googleable" a word?) I just know that years ago I heard a television evangelist use this term and I thought that it sounded kinda cool. Go ahead and admit that it piqued your curiosity. Now that I have piqued your curiosity, I will take back that clueless statement. It might have to deal with innumerable masses of people. Does that sound plausible?  Here is where the idea for the multiplicity of multitudeness (my spell check is having fits with this word) came from. In reading Acts, I...
