It Happened at 3:30 AM!
Here's an honest to goodness confession. I messed up. I know that it's difficult to believe. There are those who believe that I am so perfect that when I step into the shower and accidentally raise my hands that the waters part thus making it difficult for me to get wet. Here's the confession. A couple of days ago, I quickly read my daily Bible reading, made a quick one-sentence entry into my journal, and then raced off to get the next thing done on my to-do list. Every thing was great until 3:30 AM when the Holy Spirit awakened me to show me what my haste had caused me to overlook. Mind...
Demonstrate the Gospel
I absolutely love reading the writings of those who impacted generations by being trailblazers for moves of God. I was recently reading a yellowed-by-age, dog-eared paged book in my library The Phenomena of Pentecost. Though this book was published in 1931, the writings by great pioneers of the Pentecostal movement Donald Gee, P.C. Nelson, Myer Pearlman, George Jeffreys, and D.W. Kerr are still so relevant today. These names might by foreign to you. All of these men played a significant role in the worldwide outpouring of God's Spirit back in the 1930's and 1940's and laid the foundation for...
Struggling With Your Nursery Ministry?
To me, one of the most unappreciated, least-visible ministries in the church is the nursery ministry. Rarely will you hear anything mentioned about this ministry from the pulpit. I have yet to find a waiting list of those anxiously wanting an opportunity to serve in this ministry. It's a mark-it-on-your-calender special day when a parent hurriedly dropping off or picking up their child stops to say thanks. Perhaps some of this might be due to people removing the word "ministry" from the title and instead referring to this as child care. But, in looking at this situation, do those in...
Wisdom from John Wesley
Let me recommend a great book to add to your library. Dr. Frank H. Billman’s The Supernatural Thread of Methodism (subtitled “Signs and Wonders Among Methodists Then and Now”) is a wonderful read telling of the roots of Methodism and its founder, John Wesley. Among the many nuggets found in the book, we see that in its formation, the great Methodist Church was no stranger to the power of the Holy Spirit. Signs and wonders abounded. The Holy Spirit powerfully anointed Wesley and used him bring revival to the Church. Here are just a couple of quotes from the book that shows Wesley’s love for...
You’ve Got a Friend in Me
This morning, I felt an urgency to do something that I don't believe that I've done in the 7 1/2 years of sending out this weekly blog posting. As you know, this blog goes out 52 weeks a year for the sole purpose of sharing insights on working together with the Holy Spirit and helps for raising up a generation of children and youth who know and flow with the Holy Spirit. In these blog postings, you'll often hear me announce TODAY is the Holy Ghost as a reminder of His powerful, readily-available presence. But this morning, I sensed that I needed to do something entirely different....
