You’ve Got a Friend in Me

This morning, I felt an urgency to do something that I don't believe that I've done in the 7 1/2 years of sending out this weekly blog posting. As you know, this blog goes out 52 weeks a year for the sole purpose of sharing insights on working together with the Holy Spirit and helps for raising up a generation of children and youth who know and flow with the Holy Spirit. In these blog postings, you'll often hear me announce TODAY is the Holy Ghost as a reminder of His powerful, readily-available presence. But this morning, I sensed that I needed to do something entirely different....

Ready for Your Brain to Go Tilt, Tilt, Tilt?

I know that you've heard the story of the healing of Jairus' daughter umpteen million times. You've probably told the story many a time of the young lady who was at death's door yourself in your children's ministry through a puppet routine or skit. But, as I was reading through the story earlier today, I heard the Holy Spirit emphasize something that was a fresh, on-time word to me. Let me summarize this word in just a few short sentences. You know the story found in Mark 5:22-24,35-43 and so I won't retell the story. But, please take a minute and read these two verses. "Taking hold of the...

Let Us Help You Ignite a Fire of the Holy Spirit

If we continue to minister to children and youth in the way that we are doing, we will continue to have the results that we are having. Study after study shows that we are losing this generation. Something radical has to happen. The answer isn't found in having new teaching techniques or better facilities. The answer comes through having a ministry ignited with the fire of the Holy Spirit and united in the vision to raise up a generation that knows and flows with the Holy Spirit. The need for igniting and uniting is so great. We can't wait until the next generation. That is why Vickie and I...

A Cry from the Holy Spirit

I've been blessed in my 35 years of ministry to travel to and minister in a lot of nations. During these trips, I have seen the diversity of cultures, the uniqueness of foods and the preparation of foods, and the beauty of God's creation in these places. I'm a blessed man! In these travels, I've seen a lot of funny things. You have to remember that I'm a person that finds humor in almost any situation. If allowed, I could conduct a funeral service and have people laughing the entire service. One of the things that I saw on the trip to Trinidad was a horse being transported in the back of a...

The Danger of Too Much Polish

Here are a couple of honest questions that need to be answered by everyone working in any arena of ministry. Is there room in our ministry for the spontaneity of the Spirit, or, to use the King James vernacular, "and suddenly"? Have we become so polished and programmed that the Holy Spirit has to fight to interrupt our agenda for an opportunity to speak or change our overly-prepared schedule? Years ago, I heard a joke about a group of preachers discussing their sermon preparation. The Baptist minister stated that because of preaching three sermons a week, he would immediately begin working...
