Many years ago, I heard Charles Capps say, “The Gospel is so simple that we need a lot of help to misunderstand it.” He went on to say, “And believe me, we’ve had all of the help that we need.” Ain’t that the truth!
I’m constantly amazed at how preachers and teachers complicate ministering about the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Jesus made this ministry so simple when He said,
“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children:
how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit
to them that ask him?”
Luke 11:13
This one verse shares so much about the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
- This is a gift.
- This is a good gift.
- This is a good gift from heaven.
- This is a good gift from heaven for Christians.
- This is a good gift from heaven for Christians that the Father is anxious to give.
- This is a good gift from heaven for Christians that the Father is anxious to give to all that ask.
Can it get any simpler? Jesus has promised each and every Christian that if they will just ask, the Father will pour out His Spirit upon them. It’s a case of He said, we act in faith, and then He will!
