Can I share with you a deep, dark personal dislike, something that would never become a part of my version of The Sound of Music‘s famous “My Favorite Things” song? (For you youngsters, here’s a link to this wonderful, unforgettable song.) The dreadful unfavorite thing that I’m thinking about is something that I experienced today as I spent the whole (not just a part) afternoon making travel arrangements for our upcoming Ignite & Unite Conference and Holy Spirit Rally in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I never, never, never enjoy this task. To me, it is so extremely stressful to be mindful of the ever-increasing costs as airlines charge for everything except the oxygen we breathe while flying, find flights that work within our time frame, and search for the needle in the haystack (flights with seats that aren’t unbearably uncomfortable in overcrowded airplanes). But, here’s the good news. My unfavorite thing is finished…I conquered.
Why or how do I put up with doing this unfavorite task? Because I know that all of the frustration I experience while booking our flights will open the door for our favorite things to come to pass. At this upcoming meeting…
- Vickie and I will conduct an Ignite & Unite Conference on Saturday, where we will train those ministering to children and youth to work together with the Holy Spirit. I know that individuals and ministries will be greatly impacted as we teach workshops like Here’s What God Sees, The Facts of the Anointing, The 10 Commandments of the Supernatural, and Working with the Holy Spirit. I can’t wait for the opportunity at the end of the conference to lay hands upon, pray over, and see what God says to each attendee.
- It gets even more “favoritable” (I know that it’s not but a word but it best expresses my heart) when I get to preach Sunday morning about the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and then Divine Healing Sunday evening. I already know that time and time again, I will announce, “TODAY is the day of the Holy Ghost,” and He will show His presence to powerfully validate the claim. It’s going to be supernatural!
These favorites are enough to make me want to write a Holy Spirit verse for the “My Favorite Things” song. ♫”The Spirit is moving in and among the people, fills me with joy and makes me want to do a sequel…”♫ They definitely outweigh the unfavorites and cause me to want to conquer and do this again and again and again! (Hint…hint…how about this happening at your church this year? Contact me at [email protected].)
Oh, there’s one more insight about flying to our meetings. Spirit Airlines is always our last resort for travel. Do you know why they are called Spirit Airlines? With this airline, there is just enough room in the seat for your spirit but not your body. Enough said!
