If you’ve been around for any number of years, you have seen the trends come and go for how the Church and its various ministries should function. I will let you in on a secret. If you don’t like the current super-hyped style of ministry, just stay the course and wait. In just a few years, it will change. Another one of the Baskin Robbins’ 31 flavors of church style will resurface and be all of the craze.
Recently while reading a F.F. Bosworth’s classic book “Christ the Healer“, I read the following statement and literally wanted to jump up and down in my office. Bosworth clearly shares the blueprint for both your personal life and your ministry. He said …
“If you want to know how the Spirit acts now,
just read how He acted when He had full possession
of the Church. The book of Acts is a blueprint by which
the Holy Spirit wishes to work throughout His dispensation.”
~F.F. Bosworth “Christ the Healer”
The unfiltered, unrestrained Holy Spirit found in the book of Acts acted as the totally yielded Church followed His leadership. And, according to Bosworth, we can see those same actions today … if we will constantly refer to the blueprint. In other words, the book of Acts can’t be a one-time-read. Any deviation from the blueprint will produce unintended results.
Here is why I’ve written this blog. For the Church to be the Church, those involved in any form of ministry MUST read (and reread and rereread) the book of Acts. For you to be who God intended you to be, in your personal daily walk with the Holy Spirit, you MUST read (and reread and rereread) the book of Acts. In doing so, you will see the same acts found in the book of Acts and your life will never, ever be the same again.
