While I was still in high school, I had a part-time job at a local grocery store, Farmer’s Market. After working there for a while, I went to my boss and said, “Mr. Beal, the law says that if an employee works so many hours in a day, the employee is required to get the benefit of a break.” In asking this, I was asking for a law-mandated 10 or 15 minute break somewhere in my work day. Without blinking an eye, he turned to me and said, “Burns, I gave you a break the day that I hired you.” I know, or at least I think that I know, that he was joking with me. On second thought, maybe he wasn’t kidding because, if my memory serves me right, I never did get that break during my employment at Farmer’s Market.
I am sure that you will agree that the benefits that come from working at your company are important. For many, I believe that the benefits such as having medical and/or dental insurance are as important, if not more important, than the actual salary that they receive. Without question, life would be a struggle to live without these benefits.
We all know that being baptized in the Holy Spirit is a divine command (Acts 1:4; Ephesians 5:18) for all believers. But, we tend to forget that obeying this command provides many incredible supernatural benefits. Without these provided benefits, life can be an enormous struggle as we daily contend against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness in this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12). In other words, without the baptism in the Holy Spirit and the benefits that come with this baptism, we go through life battling against supernatural powers with only our natural limited abilities. And, our natural is no match against the supernatural power of the enemy.
You will often hear me say, “Thank God for the Holy Ghost”. I don’t apologize for my dependency upon Him and all of the benefits that He makes readily available to the Spirit-filled believer. It is through this baptism and the ability to connect with God through praying in other tongues that you and I get the “breaks” in life that even Mr. Beal can’t stop. I can’t help myself … I need to say it again. Thank God for the Holy Ghost!
Want to know more about these Holy Spirit-enabled breaks? Each Thursday on my Billy Burns Ministries Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/BillyBurnsMinistries/) I list the benefits of this baptism and praying in other tongues. So far, I have listed twenty benefits. Here are just a few of them …
- There is a supernatural strengthening (building up) in our inner man. (Jude 20)
- We open the door to other spiritual gifts. (Acts 19:6)
- We enter into a new realm of worship. (Acts 10:46; 1 Corinthians 14:15)
- We pray divine secrets. (1 Corinthians 14:2 Moffatt Translation)
I have far exceeded my self-imposed word count on this blog. Go to my Facebook ministry page and check out the Thursday posts for additional benefits.
