If you have ever attended a multi-generational family reunion, you can often see a familiar trait among the family members. You know what I’m talking about. In looking around the gathering, it is obvious that there is a constant prominent genetic feature that has been passed down from generation to generation and is seen throughout the family. It could be a facial feature or a particular way of posturing or an obvious quirk that makes your heritage or linage undeniable. It is nothing to be embarrassed about. It is in your DNA. It is who you are.
In the last two blog posts, I hope that I haven’t embarrassed you by exposing your spiritual DNA test results to the world. In all honesty, it never has been a secret. Some 2,000 years ago, God put your report out there for all to read. Go ahead and look in the Book of Acts. It doesn’t take the reading of too many pages to see the great genetic connector. The Church was birthed by the Holy Spirit, filled with the Holy Spirit, continually refilled by the Holy Spirit, directed by the Holy Spirit, equipped by the Holy Spirit, empowered by the Holy Spirit … do you see the common denominator? Throughout this book (report), it is undeniable. The original, Book of Acts Church was 100% Holy Spirit!
Let me add to the previous two posts by sharing ten more report findings.
- Positions of authority didn’t dictate or determine who was used of God. Acts 2:16-18,39, Acts 9:10-17
- Gender and age weren’t factors for who could be used by God’s Spirit. Acts 2:16-18
- The Holy Spirit was a sermon interrupter. Acts 10:44
- The Holy Spirit didn’t allow the Church to be intimidated or fearful. Acts 4:31
- The Church believed in the ministry of the laying on of hands. Acts 6:6, Acts 8:17-18, Acts 13:3, Acts 19:6
- The Holy Spirit worked within families. Acts 10:24,44-48, Acts 16:30-34
- Opposition came from “religion”. Acts 4,7,9,11,17
- The Holy Spirit was heaven’s power transmitter. Acts 1:8, Acts 3:12, Acts 4:33, Acts 6:8
- The Church didn’t shy away from prayer. Acts 1:14, Acts 3:1, Acts 4:31, Acts 6:4,6, Acts 10:31, Acts 11:5, Acts 12:5,12, Acts 13:3, Acts 14:23, Acts 16:16,25, Acts 20:36, Acts 21:5, Acts 22:17, Acts 28:8
- The working of the Holy Spirit didn’t end with an “amen” at the conclusion of the Book of Acts. Acts 28:31
Ready for this? You’ve read the spiritual DNA report findings and seen the workings of the Holy Spirit. I’m sharing this spiritual DNA test result to remind you that the very same Holy Spirit that moved in, on, and through individuals throughout the Book of Acts lives inside of you. Be assured that from the Day of Pentecost forward, the Holy Spirit has been providing what is needed when it is needed for where it is needed. It is undeniable. It is nothing to be embarrassed about. It is in your DNA. It is who you are.
