Confused? Feel like your brain is in a thick fog? Have limited details? Got conflicting information? Overwhelmed? Have I got good news for you! Well, really it’s not my news. It’s actually found in Romans 8:26-27. According to these two verses, you are smack-dab (that’s Texas talk) in the PERFECT place for some of the most accurate, powerful, right-on-target, can’t-miss-the-will-of-God praying that you have ever done. Really? Really!
“In the same way the Spirit [comes to us and] helps us in our weakness. We do not know what prayer to offer or how to offer it as we should, but the Spirit Himself [knows our need and at the right time] intercedes on our behalf with sighs and groanings too deep for words. And He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because the Spirit intercedes [before God] on behalf of God’s people in accordance with God’s will.” Romans 8:26-27 (The Amplified Bible)
Did you see the great news in these verses? We can be what I call a Know-Notter (be totally clueless about a person, place, time, and exact situation) and, with the enablement of the Holy Spirit, pray the prayer that God has been waiting to hear. This sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? But, it’s a million, billion, gazillion times true. This is so liberating. Fretting and struggling in prayer over the hows, whens, wheres, and whys are now a thing of the past!
Here is the “secret” behind this reality. Ready? This is really too simple. Praying in the Spirit (AKA praying in other tongues) is what I call the great brain bypasser. According to 1 Corinthians 14:14, this Spirit-enabled praying removes thinking from the process. Your thoughts and ideas are not needed to pray the mysteries of heaven (1 Corinthians 14:2). So, while your natural mind can be all of the things mentioned in this blog’s first paragraph, your spirit connected to the Holy Spirit can still pray a prayer that will launch heaven into action.
Know-Notters, pray away! Liberated saint, go for it. Pray in the Spirit knowing that you are now praying the perfect will of God. You can now rest assured that your praying is touching heaven to change earth! Pray in the Spirit!
