Have you got three minutes? I sense a great urgency in my spirit to remind Spirit-filled believers to once again focus upon and profit from something that to many has been woefully neglected. I’m referring to a benefit that comes as we pray in other tongues. It is found in this verse.
“For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.” 1 Corinthians 14:2
I have shared in previous posts that while I read, study, and quote from the King James Version of the Bible, I love to use other translations to amplify the insights found in the King James Version. In this verse, I found…
“…because in the [Holy] Spirit he utters secret truths and hidden things [not obvious to the understanding].” (Amplified Bible Classic)
“…he is talking of divine secrets in the Spirit.” (James Moffatt Translation)
“…he is speaking intimate mysteries in the Spirit.” (The Passion Translation)
“…he is speaking in the Spirit the depths of the mysteries of the Lord.” (The Voice Translation)
Reading the entire chapter of 1 Corinthians 14, I can see why the apostle Paul placed great emphasis on praying in the Spirit. From my own personal experiences, I have found that as I have prayed in other tongues, I prayed by the enablement of the Holy Spirit:
* Secrets
* Mysteries
* Plans
* Purposes
* Intercessions
* Activations
* Places to go
* People to see
* Things to do
* Things that my natural mind can’t process
* Things that must be revealed to my spirit by the Holy Spirit
Let me talk Texan to you as I close. I double dawg dare you to read 1 Corinthians 14 with fresh eyes. Push aside religious ideas and denominational dogmas. Read afresh Paul’s admonition to pray the divine mysteries of the Lord. If there has ever been a time for us to bypass our natural thinking (1 Corinthians 14:14) and allow our spirit to supernaturally connect with the Holy Spirit, IT IS TODAY. If there has ever been a time for us to become like Paul and declare that we depend upon what happens as we utter the secrets of heaven, IT IS TODAY. Oh, and one more thing. If there has ever been a time when we are so convinced of the benefits of speaking the intimate secrets of heaven and enjoying praying in other tongues to the max, IT IS TODAY.
