Perhaps like me, from time to time you’ve experienced someone who wants to discuss (debate) the working of the Holy Spirit today. They claim that the days of miracles ended with the passing of the last apostle. For them, just reading a few scriptures isn’t enough. Fortunately, years ago, I heard or read the statement that says “A person with an experience will never be at the mercy of a person with an argument.” Thankfully, in addition to having the foundation from the Bible, I know that the undeniable work of the Holy Spirit witnessed with my own eyes will never succumb to the activity of their brain.

Here’s the reason for this brief post. For those with their long gone, forever done Holy Spirit arguments, allow me to tell the “I have and continue to see Him do today” experiences. In fact, here is what we saw just last week as Vickie and I ministered in a Bible college in North Carolina. (This isn’t hearsay. I’m telling of things that we saw with our own eyes!) During my teachings in the morning sessions about the Holy Spirit in the Now, young and not-so-young students began a newfound relationship with the Holy Spirit as they were baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. And, throughout the week, the student body and staff repeatedly saw His gifts in operation. As I ministered in the evening services on Jesus the Healer, students and faculty were gloriously healed. Can you imagine the excitement that filled the auditorium when a woman who used a cane because of weak knees was healed by the power of God and was running pain-free up and down the platform stairs without the assistance of a cane? Undeniable testimony after testimony could be shared by those experiencing the miracle-working, today Holy Spirit. Once again, you can have your argument but I have the experiences to validate the Holy Spirit being alive, present, and powerful today.

Got an argument for a dormant, absent Holy Spirit? You’ve gotten to me too late. I’ve seen and experienced too much to convince me otherwise. To borrow a few words from an old Johnny Cash song, “Well, I was there when it happened and so I guess I ought to know”. Thank God for a miracle-working, today Holy Spirit.
