You may not believe this, but at one time in my life, I was a smart-mouthed teenager. And, as with most teenagers, from time-to-time I would disengage my brain and my mouth would invariably get me into trouble. I’ll be honest … it happened more times than I’d like to admit. I’ll never forget one occasion when my stupidity got the best of me and, after I had made some flippant remark a ninth-grade teacher looked me square in the face and said, “Don’t cha’ evva’, evva’ do that again.” (The spelling is typed exactly like she said it to me.) And, you can rest assured that I nevva’ evva’ did that again.
In a conference a few weeks ago, I told the stories of Moses, Gideon, and Jeremiah disengaging their brains and having the audacity to allow their mouths to utter words that were 180 degrees opposite of what God had just told them. I wish that I had the space and you had the time for me to fully tell each story. I’ll give you the one-sentence recap. After hearing from God and receiving His instructions:
1. Moses tried to disqualify himself by telling God to reexamine who He was talking to. (Exodus 3:11)
2. Gideon tried to disqualify himself by telling God to take a second look at his position in life. (Judges 6:15)
3. Jeremiah tried to disqualify himself by telling God about his limitations. (Jeremiah 1:6)
There are many from all over the world that are reading this blog post that have refused to step into the position that God has prepared for them, ordained before time was time. There are many that have tried and tried again to disqualify themselves from doing the will of God. In all probability, I’m directing this to you. Like Moses, Gideon, and Jeremiah, your disengaged brain has thrown “facts” at God causing you by either words or actions to “correct” God and tell Him that He is wrong about your ability to do great things for the Kingdom. I’ll go even one step further. To 
show your lack of creativity, your disengaged brain caused you to open your mouth and actually use one of the three excuses shown above. And, you know that I’m correct!
I really feel an urgency to borrow words from my ninth-grade teacher and speak for God and say to you, “Don’t cha’ evva’, evva’ do that again.” God hasn’t changed His opinion about you. It’s time to put your excuses behind and begin to say a resounding “YES” to the will of God. God is waiting on you. Lives are counting on you. Destinies are on hold for you. God believes in you. The Holy Spirit is assigned to help you. Get started N-O-W! Turn off the computer and start telling God, “Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.”
