Some might ask why I focus so much on God’s wonder-working power. I could give a true but smart-alec reply that I do so because the majority of the church ignores it. But, you know me. People call me Sweet William because I wouldn’t stoop to giving smart-alec answers. Oh, okay. Occasionally, I do. Oh, my conscience is bothering me. Too often I do.
Concerning God’s wonder-working power, let me share this powerful statement that I read some time ago and recently memorized. If you are in an upcoming Holy Spirit Rally, I am confident that you will hear it quoted in a sermon.
“It is the business of Christians to prove to the world
by actual demonstration that the promises of God
are as true today as they were two thousand years ago.”
~ F.F. Bosworth “Christ the Healer”
Why is it important that we demonstrate God’s power?
- Signs, wonders, and miracles are important to the individual needing God’s power. No greater example can be found than the healing of the lame man in Acts 3. The “such as I have give I thee” ended forty long years of immobility. His response? He went walking, leaping, and praising God.
- Signs, wonders, and miracles are important for the advancement of the Kingdom. I love to say it this way. God’s power is the advertising tool of the heavens. In reading through the book of Acts, over and over again you will discover that God’s power put on display added to the church exponentially.
- Signs, wonders, and miracles are important because they bring God glory. Again, Acts 3. What did the lame man do immediately upon receiving his healing? He went walking, leading, and praising God.
Go. Prove that God’s promises are still true today.
You are a true man of God who is being used on a real powerful way that is desperately needed for the people to be refilled with Holy Spirit. May God continue to bless you and your family and use you. Praying blessings over you all. Sincerely Penny Warner.
