I was speaking to a friend yesterday about God’s faithfulness, and during our conversation, I shared this scripture.
“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering;
(for he is faithful that promised;)” Hebrews 10:23
This prompted me to later look at my file for quotations I’ve gathered over the years, and in particular, the quotations that remind us of God’s promises. While reading them, I determined that sharing a few of these quotations from some of my spiritual heroes would be a blessing to you. Enjoy!
- “The faith that appropriates God’s promise rests on the knowledge of His will.” ~ T.L. Osborn Healing the Sick: A Divine Healing Classic
- “God always fulfills His promises when He can get the right cooperation.” ~ F.F. Bosworth Christ the Healer
- “Instead of your listening to the “father of lies,” make him listen to your praising God for His promise!” ~ F.F. Bosworth Christ the Healer
- “God is just as faithful to one promise as to another.” ~ F.F. Bosworth Christ the Healer
- “The Holy Spirit is always ready to execute for us the fulfillment of any promise God has given.” ~ F.F. Bosworth Christ the Healer
- “The only purpose of God’s promises is their fulfillment.” ~ F.F. Bosworth Christ the Healer
- It is the business of Christians to prove to the world by actual demonstration that the promises of God are as true today as they were two thousand years ago. ~ F.F. Bosworth Christ the Healer
- “God says he is more ready to give his Holy Spirit to them that ask him, than parents are to give bread unto their children. Here we are bound to believe that we shall receive it when we pray for it. You have no right to put an if, and say, “Lord, if it be your will, give us thy Holy Spirit.” This is an insult to God. To put an if into God’s promise, where God has put none, is tantamount to charging God with being insincere. It is like saying, “O God, if thou art in earnest in making these promises, grant us the blessing we pray for.” ~ Charles Finney Revival Lectures
- “The command and promises of Mark xvi.15-18 most certainly apply to the whole dispensation of the Holy Ghost. There was no geographical boundary to limit its activities – “Go ye into all the world.” There was no distinction to hinder its message – “Preach the Gospel to every creature.” There was no cessation of the miraculous signs – “These signs shall follow them that believe.” There was no change in the authority behind the commission – “In My Name.” ~ George Jeffreys Healing Rays
- “Now ask yourself, why would God command the church to. pray for the sick and promise the church healing if they prayed, unless God intended healing to be a normative part of church life?” ~ Jack Deere Surprised by the Power of the Spirit: Discovering How God Speaks and Heals Today
- “I clasp the hand of Love divine,
I claim the gracious promise mine,
And add to His my countersign,
“I take”—“He undertakes.” ~ A.B. Simpson (1843–1919) quoted in A.W. Tozer’s The Fire of God’s Presence: Drawing Near to a Holy God
Yes and Amen. Just like the old song says “Standing on the promises of God”. Walk in faith of His promises.
