Let’s face the facts. As Vickie and I travel and minister at our Jesus the Healer Rallies, we aren’t traveling down a road occupied by the masses. Are there more trendy, popular subjects to preach and teach? Probably. Well, to be more accurate, yes. If so, why do I go against the trends and continue to preach in church after church that Jesus is still in the healing business?

I’m glad that you asked. Here are six reasons why I minister about divine healing and my expectations for doing so.

  1. God is glorified. You won’t need to turn too many pages in your Bible to discover that when God’s miracle-working healing power was demonstrated, both the person who was healed and the bystanders became worshippers. Right there in the open, no holds barred, it was a God-magnifying time! It happened then and will happen today!
  2. Ministering healing is an act of obedience. Have you ever noticed that Mark 16:18 says this about believers: “shall lay hands upon the sick”? To me, the word “shall” sounds like a directive, not a suggestion. As believers, we are to lay hands upon the sick!
  3. Healing is expected. Jesus declared in Mark’s gospel that the “shall” will render another “shall”. According to Mark 16:18, when healing is ministered and hands are laid upon the sick, the individual “shall recover” (“will get well” Amplified Bible). Notice that the word is “shall”, not “might” or “could possibly”. Bodies are restored. The doctor’s diagnosis becomes incorrect. Calls for the funeral home are no longer unnecessary!
  4. The question marks are replaced with exclamation marks. Just two verses after the Mark 16:18 referenced in points #2 and #3, we read that healing validates and authenticates the preceding preached message. Question marks disappear when God’s power is witnessed.
  5. Advertising agencies and campaigns become unnecessary. Go ahead and read it for yourself. Throughout the gospels, after God’s miraculous power was displayed, news spread throughout the land. Leonard Ravenhill said it best. “You never have to advertise a fire. Everyone comes running when there’s a fire. Likewise, if your church is on fire, you will not have to advertise it. The community will already know it.”
  6. Speaking of fire, it’ll happen. If there’s even a smidgen of fire left in the coals of the church, seeing God’s wonder-working power displayed will stoke the embers and bring about a blaze not witnessed in recent times. God’s love and healing power will change cold, lifeless services into powerful, Word-longing, Spirit-desiring, can’t-stop-worshipping, forget-the-clock, on-fire praise fests. It will become Book of Acts days!!!

Need I share more? It’s probably not necessary. I’ll just keep on keeping on preaching that Jesus is STILL the Healer and expecting that “these signs will follow them that believe.” (Mark 16:17)
