I absolutely love ministering the Holy Spirit Rallies each weekend and seeing many people be baptized in the Holy Spirit. It is really exciting to me when we are given the opportunity to also minister on a Sunday night and go one step further as I teach teach about the necessity of praying in the Spirit. Of the two services that we minister on the weekend, the Sunday night service is always the most challenging. Why? Because trying to squeeze into a 45 minute time window a teaching that tells of the many benefits that come as we pray in other tongues is like attempting to squeeze a 36 inch waist into a size 30 pair of jeans. It is so, so, so challenging. I honestly believe that I could spend 45 minutes to an hour teaching on each a benefit on my list.
In this blog post, I’d like to share about one of the greatest benefits that comes from praying in other tongues. (That’s not really true because each and every benefit is equally incredibly wonderful!).
Ready? At the exact moment that we begin to pray in other tongues, heaven starts depositing a supernatural, power-packed, devil-crushing, hell-invading download into our spirit that is designed to fully equip us to fulfill God’s will, plan, and purpose in our lives. As each and every syllable comes out of our mouths, we are receiving all of the critical components necessary to do the wonderful, wonder-producing works of God uniquely designed for us. “He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself …”
1 Corinthians 14:4
Reading this verse from other translations makes this point crystal clear …
“He who speaks in a [strange] tongue edifies and improves himself.” (Amplified Bible)
“He who talks with a Tongue may be advancing his own spiritual progress.” (Arthur S. Way Translation)
“He who speaks in an unknown tongue does good to himself.” (Weymouth New Testament)
According to Paul, we are receiving the exact substance needed to improve and advance us and give the goods for that day’s strategic situations and activities. Did you catch that? The download is for that day’s assignments. You see, yesterday’s download won’t be adequate for today’s assignment and today’s download won’t supply the needed components for tomorrow’s God-ordained plan. I believe that it was for this reason alone that Paul wrote …
“I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all.”
1 Corinthians 14:18
Right now, I’ll kick into my Sunday night restraining mode and stop sharing further about this important benefit that comes as we pray in the Spirit. I have conveyed just enough teaching to cause you to increase the frequency of your heavenly downloads. So, stop reading and start downloading. Pray in the Spirit!
