One of the great preachers of England’s Methodist Church in the early 1900’s was a man named Samuel Chadwick. Because of his forthrightness, Chadwick was greatly loved and hated. Consider this quote …
“The Church that is man-managed instead of God-governed is doomed to failure. A ministry that is College-trained but not Spirit-filled works no miracles. The Church that multiplies committees and neglects prayer may be fussy, noisy, enterprising, but it labors in vain and spends its strength for nought. It is possible to excel in mechanics and fail in dynamic.” ~ The Way to Pentecost
Can you see why I love Chadwick? (Do yourself a favor and read other Chadwick quotes in a previous blog post.) It’s as though Chadwick is visiting church after church, analyzing what he sees, and then describes why today’s church is void of God’s power.
The reason that I’ve shared this quote from one of my heroes is because I know that you too long for a powerful, impacting ministry. If you didn’t, you would have quit reading this blog post long ago. I really don’t need to enlarge upon the quote. I would ask that you spend time with the Holy Spirit and ask Him to take Chadwick’s words and turn the spotlight on you personally and your ministry. I believe that your answer for a Spirit-filled, dynamic, miracle-seeing ministry is ready to be revealed.
