A few months ago, Vickie and I had the opportunity to enjoy a few days with our children and grandchildren up in central Florida. One afternoon, I got to participate in one of my all time favorite activities, playing my grandson Joey (6-years-old) some wicked games of Tic-Tac-Toe. I say wicked because Joey is always determined to be the winner. This makes playing the games super fun because, if you are a grandparent, you can identify with the joy of constantly looking for new, creative ways to allow your grandchildren to win the game. For me, there’s absolutely nothing more exciting than to see Joey do his victory dance as I mourn another loss.
This week, I’ve been reminded over and over again of an element found in the game of Tic-Tac-Toe. The game can’t progress until you make your move. Without some activity on your part, the game will be stalled forever. If you’ve read my last Billy Burns Ministries newsletter , then you are “in the know” and are aware that for us, God had made His move by giving us a clear, unmistakable directive to leave behind 25 years of being the children’s pastor at an incredible church so that we can launch out as full time evangelists and conduct our Ignite the Supernatural Conferences and preach in churches nationally and internationally. We’ve recognized His move and chosen to make our move. We’ve recognized that His unfulfilled directive will die within us in some way off distant future unless we take the initiative and make a gigantic step of faith to step into this new season of ministry.
Let me wrap up this blog by quoting a statement that Joey makes from time to time in our Tic-Tac-Toe games, “Papa, it’s your turn. You’re not paying attention.” I’m writing on behalf of God today. He wants to notify you that it’s your turn. He has clearly, undeniably made His move. You just haven’t been paying attention. Now, go ahead and make your bold move. (And, here’s a head’s up. His move has set you up to win!)
